Preserving Our Ancestors Memorials

Often, after just one generation, memories of our ancestors are reduced to nothing more than name, birth and death date.  In many cases, paper records have been lost or destroyed and all that remains are tombstones or grave markers.  As the years go by, time and the environment takes its toll eventually erasing these memorials placed to honor our ancestors.   The Torrance County Cemetery Project is dedicated to the preservation of these memorials before they are lost to time and the elements.

The Torrance County Cemetery Project is a non profit project. All work is done on a volunteer basis.  All equipment, labor, copy fee’s, plat purchases, internet space, etc are provided by the volunteers involved.  The information gathered is freely shared with anyone who requests it at no charge.

The cemeteries of Torrane County, New Mexico are many and scattered so please check back.  As time permits, I will add to this site.  Being human, mistakes can be made and it would be greatly appreciated if you would report any errors you should find.  As with all projects of this nature, I am looking for volunteers.   If interested, please drop an email to;  Edwina Hewett.  Thank you and I hope you find what you are looking for.
